The first day back to school at the University of Pittsburgh is always an interesting experience. Classes are filled with individuals who are afraid to be themselves for the fear that you may not actually like who they are! I find this phenomenon somewhat fascinating. I also find it somewhat refreshing – oddly enough. Sometimes it seems like we’re a bunch of know-it-alls, its nice to see people just set back and relax once in a while – spending time to be observant!

I guess as a photographer, I do have a bit of a tendency to be observant. I wish more people would stop for a moment and just look around. To take a moment to really appreciate someone or something for what it truly is, is a blessing. It could be the white coat that makes a med student so proud, the character formed in fake bricks to make them look real or the smile of that cheery person you always want to smack… :) I think we can all appreciate something out of everything. That is my job as a photographer and I love it. I get to focus on all the good characteristics that I enjoy in life or a subject, but I also get to choose which one of the bunch I want to focus on! Life is great! If you are a student, hopefully you can relate – if not, I’m sure you were at some point. Enjoy your day.
